Constitutionalism

Democracy & Constitutionalism

Africa Eye is dedicated to strengthening democratic institutions, defending constitutional governance, and ensuring that leaders are accountable to the people. Through advocacy, investigation, and public engagement, we work to prevent the erosion of democracy and the entrenchment of authoritarianism across the continent.

1. No to Third-Termism

We actively campaign against attempts by leaders to manipulate constitutions and extend their stay in power beyond legally mandated term limits. Our advocacy emphasizes that political offices are a public trust, not a lifetime entitlement.

2. Term Limits Advocacy

Africa Eye promotes strict adherence to presidential and parliamentary term limits across Africa. By highlighting cases of constitutional abuse, we raise public awareness and pressure governments to respect democratic rules.

3. Constitutional Abuse Alerts

We issue real-time alerts whenever constitutions are undermined, amended unfairly, or interpreted to favor leaders’ indefinite rule. These alerts inform citizens, civil society, and international observers of threats to democratic governance.

4. Electoral Integrity

We monitor elections to ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability. Africa Eye exposes electoral fraud, vote manipulation, and intimidation, advocating for credible processes that reflect the true will of the people.

5. Civic Rights & Freedoms

We defend the fundamental rights of citizens to express their opinions, protest peacefully, and participate fully in political life. Our work seeks to protect freedom of assembly, speech, and association from government repression.

End Dictatorship

Africa Eye stands against authoritarian regimes and the abuse of power that undermines democracy. We document, expose, and challenge oppressive governance to restore liberty and political accountability.

1. Authoritarian Regimes Watch

We monitor governments and leaders whose actions erode democracy and violate human rights, publishing reports and updates to inform the public and international community.

2. Political Prisoners & Detentions

We track arrests, detentions, and persecution of political opponents, activists, and journalists, advocating for their immediate and unconditional release.

3. Human Rights Violations

Africa Eye documents abuses, including torture, unlawful arrests, and discrimination, ensuring these violations are exposed and addressed locally and internationally.

4. Youth Resistance & Advocacy

We empower young Africans to engage in civic action, organize campaigns, and demand accountability from leaders. Africa Eye supports youth-led initiatives that challenge authoritarianism and corruption.

5. International Solidarity Appeals

When national systems fail to protect democracy and human rights, we appeal to the international community, including regional bodies and global partners, to support democratic governance, human rights, and constitutional integrity.
